    Almost cooler than the cable channel itself– get wallpapers, watch video clips, look up something in the movie database. Very chic, old-timey graphics.
  • Library Thing
    Catalog and share your library of books. If you’ve got so many books you can’t keep track, like me, this is for you.
  • FOUND Magazine
    Because, who doesn’t like looking at discarded notes, photos, and to-do lists?
  • Daily Candy
    E-mail subscription for local events, stores, restaurants.
  • The Resident
    First caught this show on public access in New York. Fun commentary.
  • Psychic Cat Times [Kelli Ali]
    Remember that song “Six Underground” from the Sneaker Pimps? Kelli Ali was the singer on that. She’s got some great solo albums and collaborative tracks.
  • Eye On Books
    Interviews with book authors. Very interesting and a good way to find new books to read.
  • illJazz Podcast
    Awesome music– old school hip-hop, 70s/80s/90s jams, disco, house. Stuff that makes you want to dance.
  • Vmix Web Radio
    French radio station with a few different channels. Only the French know how to really do house, lounge, and electronica without it being awful.
  • Lynch Land
    Liam Lynch’s site– you may know him from Sifl and Olly or maybe from his music. Fun video podcast.
  • Dinosaur Comics
    If you haven’t heard of this, you’re not on the internet enough. Hilarious.
  • Fly Guy
    So amusing and oddly relaxing interactive flash.
  • Albino Black Sheep
    When you’re bored and need to be amused.
  • Devil Ducky
    Another source for amusement during boredom.

    Korean kids’ show. So weird, but so cute.

    Online comic.

    This is a wonderful blog for freelancers. Also has a great e-book series and an interesting, conversational podcast.

    Was really great before the original author retired. Full of ads, but the original content can still be useful.
  • W3 Tutorials
    Great reference tool, especially for CSS things and ASCII symbol codes.
  • The Do’s & Don’ts of Modern Web Design
    Little things you may not always think about in your coding and design practices. Submit your own or rate the submissions that you think are way off or right on.
  • CSS Zen Garden
    Great CSS layouts. Submit your own. See all the things you can do with CSS.
  • DHTML Central
    Some useful DHTML scripts.
  • Dynamic Drive
    More useful DHTML scripts.
  • Font Paradise
    Free fonts. Need I say more?
  • Getty Images
    A little pricey, but well worth it. They’ve got a great library of photos and illustrations.
  • Blue Vertigo
    You’ve really got to do some sifting (as you would have to do with any free service), but helpful if you’re a student.
  • PSDTUTS
    Awesome Photoshop tutorials. Not the typical unimpressive/not-so-great tutorials you usually find out there.
  • E-Starr Webhosting
    Affordable and easy to use. Good, timely customer service.
  • GoDaddy Domain Service
    Cheapest and easiest domain service that I’ve found. Wouldn’t use their hosting plans though.
  • WordPress
    Best blogging program out there, in my opinion. It’s why so many big names choose WP over the alternatives like MovableType or the pay service TypePad.
  • Blogger
    Great alternative if you don’t want to work with PHP. You’ve got lots of control over the site design.
  • Creative Commons Licenses
    Well-explained copyright issues. Get a license for your own site/intellectual property.
  • Pirated Sites
    See the pirating of site layouts on the internet. Expose one you may know of.
