As the Latin Club Historian, it was my job to maintain a website for the Latin Department. I designed this simple site using the Glendale High School Colors– red and black. Rather than go for a traditional Roman/Classical feel, I decided to specifically design the site for GHS students and future students as the website would be used to “advertise” to incoming freshmen. I used a trendy font at the time– Kravitz– for the header and navigation. The splash page “module” opened up for each content page. For the curriculum, gallery, and club sections, users could choose from a drop-down list of sub-navigational items.
I also set up a few Blogger pages for the curriculum section for the Latin teacher to update each day with the homework assignments. There was also a separate Blogger account for club officers to update with bulletins on activities and news. Gallery pages featured photos from various club activities that club members and I had taken. On one of the Club pages, I rounded up the officers and used photos of them with little bios and contact information. With our Latin teacher’s help, I compiled a list of links and resources.
