Million Million Monkeys was a web design collaborative I founded and maintained from 2008 through 2010. Though I acted as lead on all freelance and subcontract work, the collaborative allowed me to work with other web and graphic designers, illustrators, and photographers who all had full-time jobs but were looking for occasional freelance work. I first came up with the name, which was based on the mathematical theorem, the Infinite Monkey Theorem. The idea came to me after reading a reference to it in my horoscope one week. Originally created for a school project, I had collaborated with designer Carolina Modenessy to design the logo.
I wrote all the copy for the website, focusing on moving the visitor through to each page of content. I mostly work with small business owners and non-profit organizations, so I wanted the website to be very clear, friendly, and easy to use. Various social networking tools were branded MMM and integrated into the website (Twitter, AIM, and Facebook) to provide clients and those who subcontract me with multiple ways to interact online.
